On July 24-25, 2013, the first annual My Big Campus User Conference will take place at the NCAA Conference Center in downtown Indianapolis. By bringing together teachers, administrators, and technology specialists to share, teach and learn from one another, the My Big Campus User Conference is another example of Lightspeed Systems’ passion for training and collaborating with educators -working together to accomplish amazing things in the classroom.
Just as My Big Campus can be specifically tailored to obtain selected learning outcomes of entire schools down to individual students, the My Big Campus User Conference is designed around the specific wants and needs of those attending—regardless of experience level. In fact, more than half of the teachers and tech specialists already registered classify themselves as beginning and intermediate My Big Campus users. The Conference will join together users of all levels and all stages of My Big Campus implementation. Beginning users can learn from My Big Campus Coaches and trainers and advanced users can hear fresh perspectives and ideas from other veterans as well as those just learning their way around the classroom solution. Everyone is welcome, and no one will feel out of place.
A main theme running throughout the My Big Campus User Conference is collaboration. Eighty percent of those already registered for the conference are attending to collaborate with their peers by exchanging My Big Campus ideas and best practices. Two-thirds are planning to expand their professional learning community. In addition to collaboration, conference attendees can expect to learn more about best practices for engaging students, improving learning outcomes, managing online behavior, professional development opportunities, rolling out My Big Campus and 1:1 initiatives, and more.
The My Big Campus team is also seeking presentation proposals from educators and technology specialists using the dynamic learning management system in their school. Stands include:
- Student Engagement (example: course delivery, global connections)
- Content Curation (example: curating content in My Big Campus, cross-district collaboration, course bundle best practices)
- Innovative Learning Models (example: Project Based Learning, flipped classroom, differentiated instruction)
- Virtual/Distance Education
- Digital Citizenship and Managing Online Behavior
- Mobile Implementations (example: 1:1 programs, Bring Your Own Device)
- Professional Learning Networks (example: professional development, book studies, district rollouts)
